BRC Accreditation in China

Article 2007

Rushan Huaen Aquatic Products Co Limited and Yantai Lianfa Aquatic Products Limited have retained BRC Grade A accreditation in line with the new standard Version 4.

As the benchmark for food safety management, the Standard has been extensively revised to reflect revised EU legislation and continuous best practice requirements. It is now in its 4th issue.

Changes in legislation affecting the following areas are now included in the Standard:

  • Traceability of food components through the supply chain.
  • Ensuring that food components remain uncontaminated by other elements - important when allergens labelling becomes a statutory requirement next year.
  • Food product suppliers being able to advertise that farmed goods in their products come from a particular source.
  • Ensuring that guidelines governing various processes in the manufacture of food products are sufficiently robust.
  • Pointers on what suppliers can say in their communications.

This publication has become the international mark of excellence. Certification to the Standard verifies technical competence.

SEDEX
Sedex - the Suppliers Ethical Data Exchange - provides a central data storage area whereby companies are able to maintain and share information on labour practices in the supply chain.

The development of Sedex has been supported by a group of UK retailers and suppliers, including Geest, Marks & Spencer, Northern Foods, RHM, Sainsburys, Tesco, Uniq and Waitrose.

It is fundamental in supporting our customers own ethical developments. It is a formally recognized support system that major retailers in the UK subscribe to and they trust its integrity.

We are therefore pleased to announce that following the achievements of Rushan Huaen Aquatic Products Limited in their compliance with the ETI Base Code & China Laws and Regulations, they have now been registered on the Sedex System at the request of our customers. We are also progressing this ethical initiative with our other joint venture partners in China.

HACCP
In line with the Food Hygiene Regulations 2006 all BSL sites now have a complete operational HACCP in place.
